At Grace, we believe in the importance of reading to the overall education of a child and in the importance of maintaining those reading skills throughout the summer months. With this in mind, we require all of our students to participate in our summer reading plan.

Students who will be entering 1st grade - 5th grade please see information below.

​

Students who will be entering 6th or 7th grades must read one required book and choose at least two books from their recommended reading list and complete the Summer Reading Journal for three books.

​

Students who will be entering 8th grade must PURCHASE and read one required book and choose at least two books from their recommended reading list and write a one-paragraph summary for each book. Books will be used throughout the year in class.  

 

Students who will be entering 9th , 10th, 11th, and 12th grades will find specific instructions at the end of their reading lists.

GCS Elementary Summer Reading – Summer 2023

​

We are pleased to announce that this summer we have  options for our Elementary Students
(rising 1st -5th graders)! 
Please choose one or any combination of the
following options:

Choice #1Our AR Learning Center will be open on Wednesdays, (June 7-July 26 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) for students to check out books, take AR tests.  We will keep track of the tests each student takes and give the log to the student’s classroom teacher at the start of the school year. 

AR Learning Center Hours (June 7th – July 26th) :

Wednesdays, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

AR Store will be on June 28, 9 a.m. 1 p.m. and July 26, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
 

Choice #2 Students may use the reading log listed below to record books read over the summer.  Please bring this log to school to turn in the first week we return.  Students will receive a small prize for turning in their log!

Choice #3:  Join the Summer reading program at your local library!

Record the books read over the summer, get the incentive rewards from your branch library, and then bring a copy of your reading log to school to turn in the first week we return.  Students will receive a small prize for turning in their reading log!
