Summer Reading

At Grace, we believe in the importance of reading to the overall education of a child and in the importance of maintaining those reading skills throughout the summer months. With this in mind, we require all of our students to participate in our summer reading plan.

Students who will be entering 1st grade - 5th grade please see information below.

Students who will be entering 6th or 7th grades must read one required book and choose at least two books from their recommended reading list and complete the Summer Reading Journal for three books.

Students who will be entering 8th grade must PURCHASE and read one required book and choose at least two books from their recommended reading list and write a one-paragraph summary for each book. Books will be used throughout the year in class.

Students who will be entering 9th , 10th, 11th, and 12th grades will find specific instructions at the end of their reading lists.

GCS Elementary Summer Reading 2025

This summer we have three reading options for our Elementary Students (rising Kindergarten - 5th Graders!)

Please choose one or any combination of the following options:

Choice #1

Our AR Learning Center will be open on Tuesdays (June 3rd - July 29th) from 9am - 1pm for students to check out books and take AR tests. We will also host our AR store once each month for the students to collect the prizes they have earned!

June AR Store: Tuesday, June 24th (9am - 1pm)

July AR Store: Tuesday, July 29th (9am - 1pm)

Students will need to record their books on the Summer Reading Log that was given out to students the last week of school. The Reading Log is also available for download below. Please bring this log to turn in the first week of school. Students will receive a small prize for turning in their Reading Log!
